The Editor of The Log, Russell Priest, holds a collection of images in
various formats, both black & white and colour, of more than 20,000
ships covering the period from the late 1800s to modern times. The work of
many Australian and New Zealand photographers has been centralised in this
collection to ensure they are preserved for posterity and made available for
publishers, maritime researchers and collectors etc. The collection also
contains images from around the globe taken by various photographers world
wide.
There is an almost complete record of Australian and New Zealand shipping since World War II and many which predate that. Post-war British and European shipping, especially that which traded to Australasia, is also well represented. Standard designs are also included from Victorys etc to SD14s.
